Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 11, 2025

Welcome to SharkEyes (https://sharkeyes.dev). Our service helps distinguish real users from automated bots and protects web forms from spam and abuse. These Terms of Service explain the rules for using SharkEyes, the data we collect for security purposes, how the service works, and your responsibilities when using it.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using this service, you agree to these terms

By accessing or using SharkEyes (https://sharkeyes.dev), its API, widgets, or any related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

These terms apply to all users, including website owners, developers, and end users who interact with forms protected by SharkEyes.

2. Service Purpose

SharkEyes is designed to help developers and website owners ensure that form submissions and interactions are made by real people, not automated scripts or bots.

How It Works

The service analyzes certain behavioral and technical signals to verify activity authenticity, including mouse movements, keystroke patterns, device characteristics, and request metadata.

Our goal is to provide effective bot protection while minimizing friction for legitimate users.

3. Data Collection

We collect limited technical and behavioral data for bot detection and security purposes. This data is essential for the service to function properly:

  • Mouse movements and clicks — only the fact that an action occurred, without storing exact coordinates
  • Keystrokes — only the fact that a key was pressed, without recording actual characters or combinations
  • Screen size and pixel ratio — for device identification and widget functionality
  • IP address and country/region — stored in generalized form, without precise geographic coordinates
  • User-Agent, browser, and device platform — standard identification strings
  • HTTP headers — used for request validation and security analysis
  • Domain data (aud) — audience/domain identifier from tokens or configuration

Important Notice

We do NOT collect sensitive personal information such as passwords, credit card numbers, health data, or the actual content of your form submissions. Our data collection is strictly limited to behavioral signals needed for bot detection.

If you provide feedback through our website form, we may temporarily store your email and name solely for responding to your inquiry. This data is automatically deleted within 14 days.

4. Acceptable Use

When using SharkEyes, you agree to:

  • Use the service only for legitimate bot protection and spam prevention purposes
  • Not attempt to reverse engineer, circumvent, or interfere with the service's security mechanisms
  • Not use the service to collect personal data beyond what is necessary for your application's legitimate purposes
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including data protection laws
  • Not resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the service without authorization

Violation of these acceptable use guidelines may result in suspension or termination of your access to SharkEyes.

5. Feedback and Reporting Issues

We welcome and encourage feedback to help improve SharkEyes. If you encounter any issues, bugs, or unexpected behavior, please report them to us.

How to Report Issues

Submit detailed reports via our feedback form at https://sharkeyes.dev/feedback/

Include as much detail as possible: the specific path or endpoint affected, a description of the issue, steps to reproduce, and any error messages received. This information helps us quickly identify and resolve problems.

Your feedback helps us improve the service's stability, accuracy, and security for all users.

6. Service Reliability and Limitations

SharkEyes is built to provide high detection accuracy and reliability. However, it's important to understand the limitations:

No Guarantees

No bot detection system can guarantee 100% accuracy. While we continuously update our models and algorithms to minimize errors, occasional false positives (blocking legitimate users) or false negatives (missing sophisticated bots) may occur.

We regularly update our detection models to stay ahead of evolving bot techniques and to improve accuracy. However, SharkEyes is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

Users should implement additional security measures as appropriate for their specific use cases and should not rely solely on SharkEyes for complete security.

7. Data Storage and Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in these terms:

Retention Periods

General telemetry and behavioral data: Automatically deleted after 24 hours unless related to security incidents.

Security-related data: May be stored for up to 30 days in hashed form for abuse prevention and investigation purposes.

Feedback submissions: Email and name provided through feedback forms are deleted within 14 days after response.

All data is automatically purged after the retention period expires. We apply strict data minimization principles — personal identifiers are removed and data is aggregated wherever possible.

8. Data Security

We implement comprehensive technical and organizational measures to protect all collected data:

  • HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmission
  • Hashing and encryption of sensitive data at rest
  • Strict access controls based on the principle of least privilege
  • Regular security updates and vulnerability monitoring
  • Automated anomaly detection and threat monitoring

Access to stored data is strictly limited to authorized personnel and systems, and is used only for maintaining service integrity, security, and functionality.

9. User Rights and Contact

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights or if you have questions about your data:

Data Subject Requests

Contact us exclusively through our feedback form at https://sharkeyes.dev/feedback/

We respond to all verified requests in accordance with applicable data protection laws and our privacy principles. Response time is typically within 30 days.

For more information about your rights, please refer to our Privacy Policy and GDPR Policy.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

Disclaimer

SharkEyes is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to lost profits, data loss, or service interruptions.

Our total liability for any claims related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use SharkEyes in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Updates to These Terms

We may occasionally update these Terms of Service to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or service features.

The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the terms were last modified. In the event of significant changes, we will notify users through the SharkEyes website or via dashboard notifications.

Your continued use of SharkEyes after changes to these terms constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
